Singapore Convention this December

I'm stoked about being invited to the Singapore Convention this December. The line up is outstanding and Niccku, Augustine and Lionel are stellar individuals so I'm sure it will be an awesome show. I am a little ashamed to confess however, that while I'm stoked to be attending the show....I'm more excited about this freaking den of macabre oddities and gruesomeness. It's a freaking amusement park!!! Um, HELL YES!!!

Tattoo Design Book - Heroes and Heroines in Ukiyo-e - JUST RELEASED

This book is well done. It explores the Heroes of Japanese mythology via antique ukiyo-e, present day tattooing and illustrations by contemporary Japanese tattoo artists. The work is top notch, featuring the hottest tattooers in the Japanese scene today, in full color, in either full page otr quad split images. The text is in Japanese but the heroes and heroines are introduced in English as well, so you can research the stories you don't know. And the tattoo work is supported by ukiyo-e from Kuniyoshi, and his contemporaries, as well as illustrations from some of Japan's most prolific tattooers including Bunshin Horitoshi, Ton and Magoshi from Chopsticks, Horigyn, Horishio, Horihito, Hougen Kosei, Horinao, Horiken, Horizaru, Horitsuna, Mutsuo, Horimasa and more. That's just the artwork. The list of tattooers whose work was contributed is 5 times as long, and just amazing. This is a great little book to pick up.

Size: 7” x 10” - Pages: 160 - Published: 2010 - Price: $35 - Binding: Softcover

Suehiro Maruo's Maruograph I - Out of Print and Wicked Good!!!

Suehiro Maruo is Japan's prince of "ero-guru" - erotic grotesque manga. His imagery is unsettling at first and rapidly becomes well, offensive. Cute circus attired heroines, insects, eyeballs, haunting protagonists with shaded faces, moths, dripping faces, tentacles, vomit, cracks, blood....all lend themselves graciously to Maruo's canvas and reemerge in grim playgrounds for evil. This book is out of print and includes both color plates as well as monochrome illustrations. A must have for manga collectors or Japanophiles with a proclivity for wickedness.

Size: 7.5 " x 10.5" - Pages: 88 - Published: 1996 - Price: $100 - Hardcover

So I haven't been on here in a very long time, I haven't been in one room long enough to blog, so I am going to ease back in with this little gem. This is the COOLEST bat I have ever seen and he is destined to hang off my knee in the none too distant future.....that is all. Goodnight tattooland.
