Original Kuniyoshi Woodblock from 1857 - 47 Ronin Series - Bloody Ukiyo-e

This is an original Kuniyoshi woodblock print from 1857. It shows signs of wear around the edges and has a small nick to the left that you can see in the second pic, but all in all it in amazing condition. It is from the 47 Ronin series, the attacking warrior is Chiba Saburohei Mitsutada.

The print is standard oban size...36cm x 25 cm

It definitely leans more towards Japanese manga, but the illustrations are predominately full page...nice and bog and great for body positions, facial expressions and correct kimono flow. Lots of great stuff in this one. Takehiko does a great job capturing the Japanese sense of bushido....samurai heart in his characters....Mostly, as the title implies, monochrome illustrations.
